Joan began studying yoga in 1999, at Annapolis Yoga Center with her first teacher Linda Howard and immediately fell in love with the physical and mental benefits it brought to her life. After practicing Kung Fu for many years, she found yoga to be a natural evolution from martial arts for her mind, body and spirit.
In 2006, Joan completed her RYT-200 training at Golden Heart Yoga with her teachers Jenny Otto and Lynn Matthews. In 2007, she finished her first Therapy Training with Jenny Otto, and in 2008, went on to complete the RYT-500 training also at Golden Heart Yoga. In June 2014, Joan completed training in The Amrit Method of Yoga Nidra with Kamini Desi, and in 2017, completed her Advanced Certification in Yoga Nidra for adults and children.
She has had the privilege of several Master Training's with Yogiraj Rod Stryker, in addition to training's with Gary Kraftsow and Rolf Gates.
Joan brings humor and a lighthearted attitude to her classes and supports her student's through hands-on adjustment, with awareness and attentiveness to each students individual needs. She sees yoga as a sanctuary from the busy rhythms of life and hopes to share this gift with her students
